Iam not here to discuss the movie is super hit , hit or an average flick. Its 100% worth watchable however it has its own drawbacks.

Considering the hype surrounding the movie, it is a let down. You are better off watching Michael Madana Kamaraj (where he plays 4 roles). Songs are a dud. There was no need for 10 characters, they could have told the story with 5 or 6 characters. I think they started work on this movie without a clear direction. All they wanted to do was have 10 characters in the movie. And they managed to do that at the expense of decent story, screenplay, music and the movie goers money. I have lost faith in Mr.Kamal. He has lost his magic from the late 80s and early 90s. He should consider working from behind the camera. I am personally saddened by the loss of a great talent.

The much anticipated movie Dasavatharam is out and not up to the mark. It is quite unsatisfying except first 10 minutes of movie.
Story line is poor and the taking was pathetic. KS Ravikumar not at all justified the characters in the movie and he failed to use the resources he had. Universal hero Dr. Kamal Haasan is at his best. There is no comedy at all in the movie. There is no role for Mallika Sherawat except for an item song and average performance from Asin. However, the music and background was wondrous. Picturization of the songs is not at all in force. Overall, the movie was vicious except the makeup of Dr. Kamal Haasan in ten different getups.
KS Ravikumar took 2½ years to make this bummer.

Looks like it is a big "Disastarum" this Dasavatharam. 140 crore down the drain with some poor script writing and make-up. We could have made 20 different good movies with the same money.
Kamal should stick to acting and stop ghost directing and writing the script and screenplay.

Looks like Kamal is hell bent upon insulting one's intelligence. Why does he think that people will lap up everything he throws their way?
If the movie does well it may manage to do well only in TN.
Depending on how well it does I can comment on the combined intelligence of TN.

As expected the much hyped and much awaited magnum opus and film with thrilling climax has finally hit the screens with its lavish way of entry. This film has been totally powered by finance to make it a sure shot blockbuster of 2008. The visual effects and the capturing of scenes into frames are amazing and awesome. Kamal lives to his fans expectations and succeeds in mastering the 10 avatars with his impeccable acting and expressions.

What is the necessity or compulsion of portraying Kamal in 10 different get ups?To create some mindless hype or register it as a record in the Industry? Highly idiotic! people u have to give it to kamal just because wht he has done on himself,really he has worked hard for the out come of the movie.ten different kamals and ten diff portrayal of the characters that makes u wonder how can one man do so many things in one movie .but on the flip side we have to agree that there was no need for ten kamals and to accommodate all the kamals they have missed the basic thing thats the story and screen play thats wht u feel whn u come out of the theater,bec there was high expectation regarding dasavatharam and evn more on kamal to b honest he has disappointed his fans big time for sure .def this movie will do better business than his previous ones but i suspect this will not b a block buster as expected

I saw the "Chakka" movie.It's not up to hype created by Kamal. He might fulfil the desires of kamal fans not that of public.Better luck next time.

I am a die hard fan of kamal. I watched this movie for 2 times. I think kamal has wasted his energy. Story is very weak. No need for 10 getup's. This can be done with 3 to 4 roles. Technically sound, but rest is nothing. A big question mark is even President of U S A doesnt know about NACL? Lot of gap and very weak continuity.
Kamal proved ulaga nayagan... but movie failed to rule the world.....

Hey i watched the movie yesterday! It s based on Chaos effect and Butterfly effect!
Extraordinary effort from Kamal! And he had used KS Ravikumar , to make this film a blockbuster! so he had to compromise in certain scenes! But comparing this movie with any Rajnikanth movie is a senseless debate! Kamalai minja evanum illai!
And American President doesn't know about anything!(this s to d person who had asked about NACL and Bush) Thats true! I accept that the movie has some weak points! But even then its a worthy and successful trial. Sure Blockbuster(cos of some masala scenes) ..
To Kamal Fans: Please avoid using bad language here, i know its tough 2 control after watching certain ppl's comments. But control!!!
And go thru Butterfly effect on google or wiki!

When Fletcher and the Japanese guy fight, the boats go down, visibly, all of a sudden referring to the drop in water levels that precede a Tsunami.
* The church bell strikes 8 times when the Tsunami approaches.
Santhana Bharathi, P Vasu, Vincent Boovaraghan or anyone shown in the Tsunami scene NEVER use the word Tsunami, because as far as the general public is concerned Hindu used the word Tsunami in its headlines the next day morning, no other newspaper did.
However, Narasahi is the only person to even say the word Tsunami in the WHOLE movie and it is apt since Japan has a Tsunami almost every other frickin' fortnight and Narasahi also knows what to do, so he does what is best, get into a covered structure or a boat while others flee the area. Narasahi stays and knows that the best way to avoid a Tsunami is to go with its flow but also ensure that he is not in an unstable place.

the flim is simply excellent,the story is woven in an apt manner starting from the 12th a.d ,the first scene wherein kamal hassan say's that "he too was may be a cause for the tsunamui or it was the curse or the blessing of god....is just apt going by the story.
AND ALL THOSE WHO SAID THAT THE MOVIE IS MINDLESS...JUST ONE SENTENCE FOR THEM"EVEN HOLLYWOOD FLIMS LIKE independence day,transformer,titanic(going by the love story),rush hour etc ARE ALSO QUITE DUMD COS THEY NEVER HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE(as for titanic as far as i know there was no such love story on the ship's board)!!!

Speaking of Kamal, he is bloody old. Age shows all over. He should consider playing mature roles, instead of running around young girls. For whatever reason, it is not the same. Rajini Kanth can play youthful characters, just like MGR, no matter how old he is. Perhaps, Kamal should lose weight. He looks awful, with his sagging eye bags, pouchy nose, big rounded face. I am living in Malaysia. And today I have seen all your reviews on Dasavartham. Now I think twice to see in the Theatre or wait for 6months !!! to see in the original VCD. When Sivaji came here last year, I had seen twice and thought about the story line etc and thought why they waste money to just make a hero popular without any story .. but ofcourse Rajni got a name in this with good songs and sequences ... But instead of blaming the heroes or commenting on them .. we should blame or think of the story lines... I had seen the highlights of the Audio release of this movie .. and was expecting a big hit .. but only come to know from the reviews that its basically a movie for a record of 10 characters .. (ofcourse should praise sri kamal ji for his time consuming work and patience for the make up of 10 roles ) ...just imagine a simple movie by kamal ji 'anbe sivam ' which i saw only 4 years later in tv and was enthralled to see kamal's acting... i hope i could see such acting in this Dasavatham .. or even like in Micheal madana kamarajan ...
any way we should thank all the art directors, set makets, camera man etc who should have done a lot more work in this D A S A V A T H A R A M .....

Rajesh from Malaysia. I agree with you totally that I even enthralled with performance of Kamal in Anbe Sivam. In fact, that's one of my favourite movie. But if you with same expectations to Dasavatharam - I am sorry. (except the first 10 mins of the film and last 10 mins). Rest is just crap. No need of 10 roles in this story.

Dasavatharam - Kamal originality missing -I have watched these kamal movies many many times . Some of the movies I watched many times were Apoorva Raagangal, Avargal, 16 Vayathinile , Ninaithale Inikkum ,Varumayin Niram Sigappu , Saagara Sangamam, Raja Paarvai, Ek Duuje Ke Liye, Moondram Pirai, Saagar,Kalyanaraman,Swathi Muthyam ,Punnagai Mannan,Indian,Guna ,Thevar Magan, ,Apoorva Sagodharargal, Michael Madhana Kamarajan ,Avvai Shanmughi,Thenali,Panchathantiram,Anbe Sivam,Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu.- I will not see Dasvatharam for second time as Kamal’s originality is missing. Michael Madhana Kamarajan was lot better.

Gentlemen, I am surprised by all your comments, some one says this movie has a weak plot and the other one says, no need for 10 Kamals. Lets make this straight. Kamal plays 10 characters for a record, and why do you want all characters to be interconnected in the first place? However if you understand the story, these characters meet each other at various occassions and Kamal has done it really well. Offcourse letdowns with makeup on couple of characters and Not up to the mark special effects are there.
But lets try to understand something. This Movie is not a 200 Million dollar project. We are trying to reach there and Kamal has opened the door for the transition. So my humble request! Stop praising crappy individuals like Dhanush and rest of gangs. Stop dancing for numbers like Valla meenukumm.. etc Stop laughing for idiotic activities in name of comedy and stop following stupid movies which carries expense only for some song sequences and Move on!
By the way... Those gentlemen who trash talk need to understand something... stop talking and demand your so called stars to atleast try something huge instead of dancing and kissing girls who are almost like their daughters in the real world!

One must know understand this basic things.
1) K.S. Ravikumar = shabby special effects. K.S. Ravikumar is no Maniratnam.
2) Kamal Hasan = poor screenplay.
We have seen this before in Mumbai EXpress. If Kamal is given credit for screenplay, you know it is going to suck.
If you can accept this then you will come out fine after the screening.

After reading all the reviews, I was quite taking back to watch the movie, but in-spite I did yesterday and it was very nice. Except for some make-ups, kamal acting was good. especially fletcher, Rao and Bush are ever-remembering and also Japanese fight at the last was wonderful.
But I could not understand that how Ashin, inspite of knowing that Vail is inside Perumal Idol, is not giving it to Kamal and she is always taking it away for the chase ? Which is the main plot ? Anyway just to watch the run-chase we can watch for once.
