India, Australia and South Africa agree Champions League tournament
The three boards met in Mumbai to discuss the rules and regulations of the tournament, which is due to be staged in India in October and competed for by the leading eight Twenty20 domestic teams in the world.
The agreement effectively ends England's hopes of staging a rival Champions League competition and will almost certainly force the England and Wales Cricket Board to reach agreement with India or face exclusion from the Champions League riches.
The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India have already stated they have no objection to Middlesex, the Twenty20 Cup winners, from entering the Champions League but are not prepared to accept finalists Kent because of their Indian Cricket League players Justin Kemp and Azhar Mahmood.
England had hoped to organise a rival competition in Abu Dhabi, financed by the Abu Dhabi royal family, and persuade Australia and South Africa to join their competition.
But today's announcement leaves the ECB facing frantic negotiations with India to ensure their clubs have a presence in the competition, which will be staged between Sept 29 and Oct 8 with eight teams competing for a prize pool of six million US dollars.
Lalit Modi, chairman and commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and BCCI vice-president, said: "The success of the IPL has undoubtedly captured the imagination of cricket supporters from around the world.
"The Champions Twenty20 League, which will be played by (the) eight best teams from the world which have earned their place through their domestic competitions, provides a new and exciting pinnacle for club championships across the world.
"It will provide teams with the opportunity to earn the title of World Club Champions in a format which will be eagerly anticipated by spectators and players alike. I keenly look forward to the inaugural season of the Champions Twenty20 League in September/October 2008."
The inaugural tournament will initially feature eight teams who will play 15 matches but that number will increase to 12 teams playing 23 matches in 2009.
The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semi-finals.
James Sutherland, Cricket Australia's chief executive, said: "This fantastic new competition gives our best state cricketers, and their equivalents in other competitions, a chance to pit their skills against champions from other countries.
"I'm also delighted that the benefits of this global event will flow down to state level and enhance cricket at grass-roots level.
"I'm certain it will add a whole new dimension to our own Twenty20 interstate competition and globally, will help us all in winning new fans for cricket around the world."
Gerald Majola, Cricket South Africa's (CSA) chief executive, also welcomed the agreement, saying: "The Champions Twenty20 League is an idea whose time has come.
"I'm certain this competition will significantly enhance the international stature of domestic cricket and pave the way for greater involvement of cricketers, right from the club, province, state and county through to the national and international arenas.
"CSA is proud to be associated with this initiative and we are sure that this event will ignite the passion of cricket lovers the world over, quite along the lines of what we had experienced with both our current Standard Bank Pro20 and the recently held inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Cup held in South Africa last September."

Star Voice Of India 2007 Winner Ishmeet Singh Died in Maldives
‘Voice of India’ singing contest winner Ishmeet Singh Tuesday died under mysterious circumstances by “drowning” in a swimming pool in Male, the capital of the Maldives.
The 19-year-old singer hailing from a middle-class of this industrial city of Punjab had gone to Maldives for a promotional event with the music company with which he had a contract.
Relatives at his residence here said the family was informed telephonically by the music company officials that Ishmeet died while swimming in a hotel pool in the Maldives.
Relatives, friends and admirers of the singer made a beeline to his house even as his shocked parents tried to come to terms with the untimely tragedy. A pall of gloom descended on the locality.
The singer left here Tuesday morning for Maldives from Mumbai.
Ishmeet had Nov 26 last year won the ‘Voice of India’ singing contest, pipping his closest rival Harshit from Uttar Pradesh in a keen contest. He was given the winner’s trophy by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar.
Supporters of the singer voted heavily for him from Punjab during the finals of the contest. Even though Harshit led the votes tally in most regions of the country, the final count went in Ishmeet’s favour due to heavy voting from Punjab.
“He was like a brother to me. I cannot even comment on what has happened. I cannot believe that he is no longer with us,” fellow contestant Harshit told a TV news channel.

Nayanthara Claims Rivals Circulating Fake MMS Clip
South India’s highest paid actress Nayanthara Thursday filed a police complaint alleging that her rivals are circulating a fake MMS clip reportedly showing her in a compromising pose with Tamil actor Simbu, sources said. “This is the work of rivals jealous of my fame and bankability on the eve of the August release of ‘Kuselan’ and ‘Sathyam,’ both big budget ventures,” the actress was quoted as saying.
Nayanthara was rumoured to be romantically linked Shimbu but now maintains that she has a “friendly relationship” with him, sources close to the actress said.
According to sources, the allegedly morphed clip originated in Tiruchirappalli Sunday and has been widely circulated since then.
Earlier, actresses Trisha, Jyothika and Namitha have been victims of such fake MMS clips, according to industry sources.
No arrests have been made so far, police sources added.

CA PE2 results of May 2008 exam
Results for the PE2 examination of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is expected to be declared on 30th July 2008 Wednesday. PE 2 or Professional Education II -[Professional Competence Examination] exam was conducted during May 2008 .
One can also opt ot received the results by email. To do that one should register their email ids at http://caresults.nic.in/camailreg_pe2_pce.htm
The CA Pe2 exam consists of 6 papers of which the candidates have to score a minimum of 40% and an aggregate of 300 marks out of a possible 600. The 6 papers are divided into 2 groups

2 Auditing Paper
3 Business and Corporate Laws
GROUP - II
4 Cost Accounting and Financial Management
5 Income Tax & Central Sales Tax Paper
6 Information Technology

New information published in an article on a German site where the manager of Intel in Germany has confirmed that Apple will be shipping a device that sport their new processor Atom. We saw the rumor of a tablet device, which allegedly could be launched at WWDC 2008. If this leak did prove to be true, he says finally some credibility to the rumor.
Under an Intel event for the 40th anniversary of the company for semiconductors in the world BMW Munich, Germany CEO Hannes Schwaderer has today confirmed what has long been a rumour on the Internet namely that there is an iPhone with Intel's new chip Atom. The device is slightly larger than the current version, Schwaderer said. The new Apple iTablet or whatever is called, is a device slightly larger to accommodate a larger screen. It is said that the device will be a 720 x 480 multi touch screen. This corresponds to the description in the rumor about Steve Jobs announced such a device at WWDC 2008 on June 9, 2008. We also expect jobs to introduce the new 3G iPhone during the announcement. Thus, allows start from the beginning, as best as I know, Apple founders Wozniak and Jobs went to school, blah, blah, blah, they started making computers and software for them. BAM! They are in business. Several years passed where to buy Apple is largely unnoticed, even though they are iPod in 2001. But their division continues to go unnoticed, until Intel is involved now everyone wants one, but some still avoid them because of price or what some call a strange operating system.
Well, this brings us to today, where the OS is not so strange, Apple more in the public and their full attention when they do something. The iPod in its various models selling is more than ever. And then a few months ago, Apple launches the iPhone, a unique fusion of all the latest mobile devices to do what many regard as the best mobile phone there, and if you had to spend any time with one, you'd be difficult 'to disagree. Of course there are things that could be improved, but even in its current state of its better than anything that exists.
